Is dieting better than exercise for losing weight?

Although millions of people diet in order to slim, research has shown that dieting alone will not help most of them lose weight. Almost everyone who goes on a weight-reduction diet eventually gives up and regains the lost weight. What is worse, the regained weight often has a higher proportion of fat to muscle than the weight previously lost.
About a third of the weight lost from all types of diet conducted without exercise is lean tissue, not fat tissue. But when you put the weight back on, you will gain back mostly fat tissue, not lean tissue, if you have not been exercising. Going on and off diets constantly over a period of time can make you progressively weaker and, in terms of fat-to-muscle ratio, “fatter”.
In any case exercise alone is more effective then diet alone for weight reduction. Researchers have found that exercise increases the oxidative abilities of muscle tissue and trains the body to draw on its stores of fat for energy. Studies also show a happy additional benefit of exercise: regular exercise increases the overall body metabolism for up to 24 hours after a workout. In other words, even when you are not working out, you are burning more calories than you would be if you had not exercised.

Tips to avoid Hair fall

Certain diseases are associated with partial loss of hair as one of their symptoms. They are acute fever, myxoedema, syphilis, influenza, anaemia and great anxiety or severe shock. Gradual premature baldness is generally hereditary. Sometimes it is preceded by dandruff which, in its turn is caused by decomposition of the natural oil in the hair. Each day in the process of combing a certain number of hairs which have reached the end of their existence, fall out and are replaced. But if the change is too rapid, baldness results ultimately. The moment the falling of hair is noticed one should take a vigorous massage of the scalp, because if the hair fall and fine down appear on the scalp total baldness is not far away. The hat band or the scalp should never be tight because it is likely to interfere with the circulation of the blood in the scalp. Intellectual over work is not the only reason of baldness since manual labourers are also seen falling prey to total baldness. After the scalp has been thoroughly and vigorously massaged rinse the hair with cold water and then comb your hair. A cold douche of the hair is always helpful if done regularly. The best way to do is to immerse your head in a flat bottomed vessel for a minute. The hair should be combed with the fingers and dried through massage.

Effects of Bad Teeth

Nothing is more objectionable the bad breath. Unfortunately, most people who offend in this respect are completely unaware of their problem. One common cause of trouble is bad teeth. Dental decay at the roots of the teeth may result in abscesses in the gums with foul-smelling pus giving an objectionable odour to the breath. Even small holes in the teeth may provide a place where germs can multiply and release foul odours. These are very common in younger people. Badly fitting dentures that have not been properly cleansed are a common cause of trouble, especially in older folk. Bad tonsils and infections of the adenoids and sinuses may also play a part in this. Odour may also rise from inflammation in the stomach, and also from food materials that have not been completely digested.

Treatment:

See a good dentist at once if you have any cavities in your teeth. Your doctor will advise you concerning the condition of your gums, tonsils, adenoids, sinuses and other parts that may be the source of offensive odours. A wholesome well balanced diet will go a long way toward preventing trouble. All decayed teeth should be properly filled or extracted. Such a decision should be left to a qualified dentist. To choose a simple, wholesome diet with plenty of fruit is one precaution all can take against offending other people with halitosis or bad breath.

Take care of your Skin

Our human body has been given a most beautiful covering the skin. Nothing is more lovely and attractive than a glowing, healthy skin. Everyone should be aware of the importance of keeping the skin healthy .Our skin has several very important functions. It is our first line of defence against the germs that might enter the body. It also helps to regulate the temperature of the body. Keep the skin clean by thorough washing two or three times a day with good toilet soap. Some slightly abrasive soap will help to eliminate blackheads, but it should be used with care particularly if the skin is inflamed. Exposure to the sun rays can permanently damage our skin by destroying the collagen layers that support it, resulting in wrinkling. Sun can dehydrate the skin making the skin thick and leathery. Natural bleach pack like those that combine with yogurt, oats and powdered almonds can make wonders in our skin. Frequent checkups with doctors can keep your skin healthy.
